Arsinoe Serious Town has five resilience challenges that players must engage with once they have selected their interventions. Four of the five challenges are closely tied to the Systems Innovation Approach of work package 2, and cover biodiversity, flood, drought and heat wave resilience, whilst economic resilience has been included to demonstrate that towns are not just subject to environmental concerns, there is also a financial consideration.
Each resilience challenge shares a severity/resilience matrix, where the impact of each resilience challenge can be determined against the interventions that have been selected for the town, giving outcomes of severely under-prepared, under-prepared, fitting, and overkill.

A result of severely under-prepared suggests that interventions that have been selected have made the town less resilient to a given challenge than before.
A result of under-prepared suggests that whilst the interventions have had a positive effect, the town needs more interventions of that resilience type to really protect the town.
A result of fitting suggests that the interventions selected have given the town the ideal level of resilience for that type of challenge.
Finally, a result of overkill suggests that the interventions selected have provided more resilience than was really needed for the given challenge severity. It's likely that if a challenge result is overkill, other challenge results will be under-prepared, suggesting the need to balance resilience across challenges.
All the resilience guides have been written from our lived-experiences, being based in the South West of the UK. The examples given have not been chosen simply as the best or worst examples of those experiences, they were selected to present a consistent narrative of resilience challenges that occur in a region that the authors know and have experienced
